“Save Ourselves” is the new single from Motihari Brigade’s forthcoming album “Problematic” due on June 25, 2026 (George Orwell’s birthday.)
But what does it mean? That’s what we’re here to figure out.
The question:
It seems that many of us who optimistically followed the “New Atheists” (Dawkins, Hitchens, Harris, etc) simply assumed that discarding traditional religion would automatically lead to a more rational and scientific, and hence a better world. But maybe it’s not that simple. There seems to be something in human nature that clings tightly to dogmatic beliefs, even when secular, and especially when they reinforce a narrative about of our own moral superiority over disfavored others. These days official narratives and algorithmic controls curate an artificial reality that promotes a culture of division and war. Then it’s divide and rule for the oligarch billionaires and the political class. Is it surprising that the corporate-state funded group-think decent-minded mainstream liberal consensus reproduces much of the same self-righteous cultish intolerance that caused us to be disillusioned about institutional religion in the first place? Maybe deeply-rooted human spiritual traditions still have value compared to the techno-dystopian machine that has taken over? The answer isn’t as obvious as it seemed at first.
Is there still room for humans to think for ourselves — to keep asking questions? to be problematic? Where do independent critical thinkers go when society becomes the cult? Perhaps we can still “Save Ourselves” through Rock-n-Roll Thoughtcrime.
George Orwell, Socrates, and Jesus Christ discuss:
In support of the new album, and to dig even deeper into the concept, Creative Destruction Records has produced another edition the public radio themed podcast “It’s The Arts, Stupid.” This episode features a unique discussion between guests George Orwell, Socrates, and Jesus Christ about Motihari Brigade’s new album “Problematic.” Unsurprisingly, Orwell, Socrates and Jesus Christ all agree that Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side Of The Moon” set the standard for a concept album. But how does “Problematic” compare in their opinions? Find out the answers to that and more by listening to the discussion on YouTube HERE.

Problematic:
Motihari Brigade’s new album “Problematic” is here to restore a defiant spirit of independent critical thinking in this age of artificially-curated digital algorithms. Feel vibrato electric guitar strings shake loose a world of illusions. There is hope that Motihari Brigade’s brand of “Rock-n-Roll Thoughtcrime” can still inspire us to “Save Ourselves” – perhaps.
“Problematic” is Motihari Brigade’s third album, and the invention of guitarist, singer, and songwriter Eric Winston. The band derives its name from Motihari, India, birthplace of their truth-seeking spirit animal George Orwell. Problematic is scheduled for release on June 25, 2026 (George Orwell’s birthday) and will be available through popular digital streaming and download services, and on compact disc.
